Getting started

3 questions

What YieldDesk covers, who it is for, and what comes with a free account.

What does YieldDesk cover?
Preferred stocks and exchange-traded debt, 750+ active issues. Also 15+ preferred ETFs, 40+ U.S. business development companies and 150+ covered-call ETFs. The library adds reference pieces on the method and on tax treatment. The Sunday digest reports the week's data.
Who is YieldDesk for?
Investors who hold income securities one at a time and want to judge each issue on its own terms: the call schedule, the coverage, the structure and the tax treatment. YieldDesk is not a wealth manager, a robo-adviser or a ranking service.
Is a paid plan required?
No. Starter includes the Sunday digest, Market Trends, one watchlist, 3 alerts, 4 calculators, the first 20 rows of each screener and the Income Quality Score on every issue. Plus opens the full screeners, holdings, the Income Calendar, every calculator, the Forward Rate Monitor, the New Issue Tracker, the Tax Center and exports. Elite removes the limits and adds the mobile app. The pricing page has the full comparison.

Account and subscription

4 questions

Sign-in, plan changes, billing and closing an account.

How do I change plans?
Open Settings, then Billing. An upgrade applies at once, and the unused part of the old plan is credited. A move between paid plans applies at once without a credit. A move to Starter takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and the account keeps its first watchlist.
How does billing work?
Monthly or yearly, chosen at sign-up. Yearly billing saves 17% against twelve monthly payments. Stripe issues an invoice on each renewal date. Receipts are on the Billing page.
How do I close my account?
Email info@yielddesk.co from the account’s address. Billing stops at the end of the current period, and alerts stop. YieldDesk deletes or anonymises personal data within 30 days, as the privacy policy sets out.
How do I reset my password?
Select Sign in, then Forgot password. Auth0 handles sign-in, passwords and recovery. It emails a reset link to the address on file.

Data and accuracy

3 questions

Where prices, company data and filings come from, and how often each one updates.

How current are the prices?
Quotes run 15 minutes behind the market and come from EOD Historical Data. Closing prices join the price history after the 4:00 p.m. Eastern close.
Where does the company data come from?
Coverage ratios, net investment income, leverage and distribution history come from quarterly filings on SEC EDGAR. They update every trading day after the close. Each record links to the issuer’s EDGAR filing index.
How do I report a data error?
Email info@yielddesk.co with the ticker, the field, and a screenshot or a filing reference. YieldDesk corrects a confirmed error within one business day.

The Income Quality Score

3 questions

What the Income Quality Score measures, what goes into it, and where the full method is published. The score is in beta.

What does the IQS measure?
A score from 0 to 10 that describes the income quality of a security. For preferred stocks it blends five weighted measures: distribution coverage, issuer credit, buyback economics, structure and call protection. The score is in beta. Its weights and thresholds are still being tuned, so a score can change without its underlying data changing. It describes. It does not recommend.
How are the weights set?
Each asset class, preferred stocks, business development companies and covered-call ETFs, has its own weights. The methodology page lists every weight, input and calculation.
How often does the score update?
Every trading day after the close, for every security. It also updates when a filing or corporate event changes one of its inputs. Score moves appear on Market Trends. There is no IQS alert.

Alerts and notifications

3 questions

What sets off an alert, where it is delivered, and how to choose the channels.

What triggers an alert?
Five kinds: a price target, a call window opening, a distribution declaration, an insider filing, and a move across par. Redemption notices go to every holder and watcher of the security, with no rule needed. An editor reviews each filing-based alert before it goes out. Price and par alerts fire on the data.
Where are alerts delivered?
By email, in the app, and by push notification through the mobile app on Elite. Channels are set on each alert when it is created. The defaults come from Notification settings. There is no SMS channel.
How do I create an alert?
Open the Alerts page or any record page and select New alert. Choose the scope: one security, a watchlist or every holding. Pick the trigger and set the channels. Starter can create price and declaration alerts. Plus and Elite can create all five kinds.

Privacy and security

3 questions

Sign-in security, what is stored, and how members export or delete their data.

How is my data protected?
Auth0 handles sign-in and sessions. Stripe handles payments and returns a token, so card details never reach YieldDesk servers. All traffic is encrypted in transit.
What data does YieldDesk store about me?
The account profile, the subscription status, holdings if entered, watchlists and notes, saved screens, alert rules and product analytics. The privacy policy has the full list.
How do I export or delete my data?
For a copy of account data, or to delete the account, email info@yielddesk.co. Deletion is permanent and completes within 30 days, as the privacy policy sets out.
